ARTS RWC: Local Artists in running for the Senate Art Selection Process

ARTS RWC: Redwood City Artists in running for the Senate Art Selection Process this Friday

YO Redwood City!

Peninsula Arts Council was one of several arts organizations chosen to assist Senator Jerry Hill in selecting one local artist to be featured in the Senate’s Art Collection in Sacramento. The selected work from his district will hang alongside pieces from across California in the Senate’s gallery and appear in the exhibit catalogue for the next 18 months, until September 2014.

Guidelines included: The artist must reside in the 13th Senate District (from Brisbane to Sunnyvale) and submit original artwork. Each artist will receive written acknowledgement of the terms of the loan, a letter of recognition and commendation from the Senate, and a copy of the exhibit catalogue.

Collection pieces will be displayed in the Maddy Lounge and Cox Clubhouse in the State Capitol and are adjacent to the Senate floor, viewable and accessible to members of the Senate, and within the protection of the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms. (Good to know!)

Good Luck to all the artists. It is a great honor to have my photograph considered. I am sure District 13 will be well represented in Sacramento.  Think good thoughts on Friday.  Update to follow!
