Redwood City Hosting Chinese Cultural Festival

The inaugural event will feature unique performances and Taiwanese delicacies.

The City of Redwood City will host the inaugural Chinese Summer Cultural Festival in the city’s Courthouse Square this weekend.  

More than 50 local businesses will have booths at the event on Saturday, August 3 from noon to 6 p.m.

The event is designed for people who grew up with Chinese culture and those who want to learn more about it.

The outdoor stage area in front of the San Mateo County History Museum will be the site of multiple cultural performance that range from folk dancing and noodle-pulling demonstrations, to Chinese orchestra music. A place for children to play will be designated.

The performance schedule is:

12-12:30 Opening ceremonies
1-1:30 Sichuan Opera Mask Changing, Noodle-Pulling Demonstration
2-2:20 Charlie Chin, Chinese American Historian, Shares Classical Art of Storytelling
3-3:30 Jane Huang Dance
4-4:30 South Bay Chinese Orchestra
5-5:30 Studio One Karaoke Champions

The Crouching Tiger Restaurant in Redwood City will be offering Taiwanese foods such as handmade sausages, peal milk tea and minced pork over rice.
