Sequoia Girls' Tennis Defeats South San Francisco

The girls rallied from a loss at the two teams' first meet and came back with a win.

The Sequoia High School girls' tennis team defeated South San Francisco 5-2 and the teams split their season series in Peninsula Athletic League-Ocean Division play Tuesday in Redwood City. 

The first time these teams met, the Warriors won 4-3.

The teams hold 6-2 records behind league leader Half Moon Bay. 

"The whole team rebounded after our first defeat to South San Francisco," Sequoia coach Phil McKenney said. "They played well, were consistent and served really well today. 

"Our doubles players had some good volleys, too." 

After Natalie Clark in singles and the team of Lauren Newman and Alex Hilbert won for the Cherokees, the match came down to the No.2 singles which Sarah Ciambrone pulled out a three-set win then Sesilia Lauese and Sarah Cunningham teamed for a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles to seal the win.

Vanessa and ctpiazza, Buckley Stone at Pete's Harbor says it is because some time ago the CityRead More dredged near muni and ran a pipe under to spill it out at Bair Island, so it is actually the remains of rotting sea life. He knows so much about this area having been at Pete's for 20 years and knowing so much about the area the tides and the nature and land around here.
