Connect Community Charter School opens in the fall for the start of the 2013-14 school year.

Connect Community Charter School (CCCS), debuting in the Redwood City School District (RCSD) this fall for the start of the 2013-14 school year, has finally confirmed its location.

Last week, the school confirmed it will be taking over six classrooms at Fair Oaks Elementary, in east Redwood City, at 2950 Fair Oaks Ave.

"The [RCSD] district school board voted to approve that location for us on March 20," Whitney Wood, a Redwood City mother who helped found the new charter school, told Patch. "We will have six contiguous classrooms, plus a portable to use for our administrative needs, and we will share school resources like the library, [multi-purpose room], and play areas."

CCCS recently held a lottery to fill the 140 spots it is offering for its first year.

The school will initially offer one kindergarten class, one first grade, one second grade, and two sixth-grade classes. Eventually, the school will enroll up to 300 students and offer the full K-6 spectrum of classes. The school also aspires to have its own campus in the future.

CCCS recently announced the hiring of its founding principal, Mary Katayama, whom the founders say is now hard at work helping to hire the charter school's first batch of teachers.
