El Pueblo Unido Social Justice Conference

Four guest speakers will highlight "El Pueblo Unido" a social justice conference aimed at sparking dialogue among Cañada students, staff, and faculty on matters of social justice, environmental justice, and equity in education. Speakers include:

  • Michael Tubbs, graduate student at Stanford University and founder/executive director of the Phoenix Project.
  • Dr. Carlos A. Sanchez, TRiO alumnus, professor of philosophy at San Jose State University, and recipient of the 2006 National TRiO Achievers Award.
  • Xochitl Rios, Cañada student, TRiO recipient, and co-founder of the Women in Science and Engineering Club at the college.
  • Dallas Te'o, graduate student at Stanford University and community activist for indigenous and environmental rights.

Everyone is invited to come listen, interact, and be inspired by people in the community that are making a difference and contributing to the social justice efforts in education. A reception and resource fair will follow the discussion.
