Here is a favorite postcard of mine that shows a view looking down Broadway toward the Courthouse. On the far right you can see the corner of the Bank of San Mateo County, the first commercial bank between San Francisco and San Jose.
In the 1906 earthquake this building was heavily damaged and rebuilt in 1910. This postcard is dated from 1911 and shows the view of the rebuilt structure.
