Top 20 City Officials Made Over $250K in 2010
The majority of the top 20 highest paid officials were from the city's fire department.
As the city council moves towards for 2011-2012, Patch looks at the top 20 highest paid city employees in 2010.
The Bay Area News Group compiled an extensive salary database with a full accounting of how much money government agencies spend on their employees, including salaries, pension contributions, deferred compensation payments and insurance costs.
The data include 254 government entities in 10 counties in and around the Bay Area, covering 221,203 people and totaling $15 billion.

Danny Willis, the Database Producer for the Bay Area News Group, explained that the sources for these numbers are the entities themselves.
“We file requests for the data under the Public Records Act with all entities listed and publish their responses,” he said.
