Three Pull Papers To Run For City Council

Redwood City's political season picks up some mid-summer heat.

Three people pulled nomination papers to run for City Council in Redwood City on Monday, said City Clerk Silvia Vonderlinden.

Three seats on the dais will be open in November when the terms of a few incumbents conclude.

Incumbents Jeff Gee and Jon Seybert pulled papers along with former Redwood City Mayor Diane Howard on July 15, officially indicating that they are in competition for a seat with much political influence.

The City Council is composed of seven people who volunteer to create public policy and have the final say on policy decisions in Redwood City, which is a charter city.

The trio will campaign against Planning Commissioner Ernie Schmidt, and political newcomer Corrin Rankin.

They have until August 9 to turn in the paperwork required to run in this year's election.
