Joe Ross Wins Seat on San Mateo County Board of Education for Area 7

Joe Ross beat out Jo-Ann 'Sockolove' Byrne by roughly 16 percent.

 

FINAL UPDATE AT 12:26 A.M.: 

Former Cisco employee Joe Ross won against Redwood City Education Foundation Executive Director Jo-Ann "Sockolov" Byrne. Ross received roughly 16 percent more votes than Byrne. 

Joe Ross served for eight years in the U.S. Navy, and is a former employee of both Cisco and a start-up company that created the Flip video camera. He received his bachelor's degree from Yale and his law degree from Stanford. He has three kids in the San Mateo County public school system.

Jo-Ann "Sockolov" Byrne is the current executive director of the Redwood City Education Foundation. She has also worked for years as a classroom volunteer, substitute teacher, parent-teacher organization president, Site Council member, public education funding reform advocate, and fund-raiser.
