Hoover, Hawes Win ‘Most Students Walking to School’ Prize

Three quarters of Hoover students walked to school on National Walk to School Day.

Despite the wet weather, nearly 75 percent of students on National Walk to School Day last month. was the second winner for the highest increase of students walking between a regular day and Walk to School Day.

Redwood City 2020, a coalition of seven local public and nonprofits, will release the statistics from the other schools once they become available.

Out of 714 students surveyed on Walk to School Day, 531 Hoover students walked, biked, skateboarded or scootered to school. On an average school day, 432 students walk t school, a 7 percent increase in participation.
