VIDEO: Cañada College Students Remember Egypt Pre-Revolution

After a 10-day anthropological trip, the Egypt that the students came to know and love erupted into a revolution that drew the scrutiny of the entire world.

After taking anthropological courses with Professor Jessica Einhorn, a group of Cañada College students took the trip of a lifetime across the Atlantic.

The students interviewed by Patch insist that there was no inkling of political unrest, though there was an air of frustration at the lack of employment opportunities among the well-educated Egyptian youth. Rather, the students were able to play soccer with children from the Nubian village, participate in a street wedding, and adopt the culture of the Egyptians by wearing their veil.
