Redwood City Police Tout 'Community Safety Enhancements' Near Hoover School

The following is a news release from the Redwood City Police Department:

The Redwood City Police Department has worked with the community surrounding Hoover School, the Hoover Family Center and numerous community members to enhance neighborhood safety in the area of Hoover School, 701 Charter Street, Redwood City.

The Police Department’s efforts are part of a much broader Enhanced School Safety Plan, which was launched as a public safety collaboration between the Redwood City Police Department and local school districts in January 2013.

Initial safety improvements to the Hoover School neighborhood have included increased police patrols, continuation of the Adopt-A-School program at Hoover School, assignment of a part-time School Resource Officer, community outreach, the removal of blight and enhanced lighting on the Stambaugh footbridge. This effort has culminated with the installation of a high-tech security camera system on the Stambaugh footbridge.

On Thursday, June 19, 2014, Redwood City Police Department cordially invites the public to join us in a community celebration of the safety improvements to the Hoover School neighborhood.

The event will begin with participants gathering at Hoover School at 9:00 am. Attendees will then walk through the neighborhood to the Stambaugh footbridge where they will be treated to refreshments, games and prizes for children. Information on public safety and crime prevention will also be provided in both English and Spanish.

Attendees will be able to view footage from the new security camera system. Members of the public are encouraged to join us for this event to learn more about the many ways in which the members of the Redwood City Police Department are striving to improve community safety.
