Update: Fire Out But Major Power Outage and Traffic Headaches

Just in time for rush hour, a brush fire is impacting traffic.

Update: 7:15 p.m. San Mateo County Emergency Services:
Canada Road is closed to all traffic from Canada College West entrance to Godetia Drive due to a large tree down and power lines down. 

PG&E and Public works are on scene and estimate the roadway will be closed and power will be out for 6-8 hours. 

Please avoid this area and use alternate routes.

Update: 5:15 p.m. San Mateo County Emergency Services:
Traffic on Hwy 280 is being impacted by a two acre brush fire at Canada Road. A large tree fell on power lines, sparking the fire. Canada Road is closed at Godetia. Aircraft are assisting the fire fighting efforts.

PG&E crews are at the scene attempting to restore power.

4:15 p.m. Redwood City Fire Department via Nixle:

The Redwood City Fire Department is battling a brush fire in the 4200 block of Farm Hill near Highway 280.

Authorities are advising that both traffic and power have been impacted by the fire. You are encouraged to avoid the area.
