One Arrested in DUI Checkpoint on El Camino Real

Redwood City police hosted the operation.

By Bay City News Service:

A driver traveling through a DUI checkpoint in Redwood City last week was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Of the 1,076 vehicles screened at three checkpoints on El Camino Real between 6 p.m. Thursday and 1 a.m. Friday, one person was arrested on suspicion of DUI, police said.

The Redwood City Police Department conducted the checkpoints in an effort to lower DUI deaths and injuries by taking impaired drivers off of the roadway and deterring those who might drive drunk or drugged impaired, according to police.

Anyone who suspects drunk driving should call 911. Redwood City police will be conducting another DUI checkpoint in August, police said.
