UPDATED, 8:13 P.M.:
At about 6:00 p.m., southbound train #272 struck a car that had accidentally turned onto the train tracks on Maple Street at Pennsylvania Avenue in Redwood City.
There were two people in the car - a woman and a child. They were not in the car at the time the train struck the car.
There were no injuries to anyone, either on the train or in the car.
Initially, both tracks in the area were closed.
At about 6:45 p.m., the northbound train tracks were opened and north- and southbound trains were able to operate at slow speeds through the area. A tow truck removed the car from the tracks and the southbound train tracks were opened at about 7:30 p.m.
All 292 passengers on train 272 were taken to the Redwood City station, where they were able to board other southbound trains.
Trains are still operating at slower speeds through the area of the incident. Currently, there are major delays to all trains:

News outlets are reporting that, sometime around 5:30 to 6 p.m., a car stalled on the Caltrain tracks in Redwood City at Pennsylvania Avenue and Maple Street.
The passenger or passengers in the car reportedly made a narrow escape, said KTVU anchors, before the train struck the car.
The incident has caused major Caltrain delays. As of 7 p.m., trains through the area had been halted for more than an hour.
Traffic is expected to be heavy for motorists traveling through the area near Pennsylvania and Maple.
