Blotter: Armed Robbery of Two Businesses in One Night

The following information was supplied by the Redwood City Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Dec. 3

4:15 a.m. - Suspicious Person: Subject seen walking on the freeway, 101 South at Whipple. Officers advised.

4:54 a.m. - Battery: Occurred on Broadway. Subject says he was jumped by four unknown suspects around 12:45 a.m. Report taken.

9:51 a.m. - Suspicious Circumstances: Occurred on Broadway. A man reports he believes he was drugged at a local bar on Saturday. 

10:18 a.m. - Brandished Weapon: Occurred on Whipple Avenue. Man reports a drunk man on a bike threatened him and brandished a knife. Described as a white male with a beard riding a blue bike. Report taken.

12:25 p.m. - Commercial Burglary: Occurred on Shasta Street. Burglary occurred sometime over the weekend. Unknown point of entry. Drawers were rummaged through and cash was taken. No suspect info. Report taken. 

6:30 p.m. - Suspicious Circumstances: Occurred on Columbia Circle. Caller reports a white male wearing a dark jacket and jeans tampering with a mailbox. The subject is using a flashlight and a drill to try and get into one of the mailboxes at the building. Report taken.

6:57 p.m. - Disorderly Conduct/Public Drunkeness: Occurred on Brewster Avenue. Caller is requesting medics - person has fallen down several times. Medics from fire department were sent, and police officers were also requested.

7:15 p.m. - Disturbance: Occurred on Beech and Hilton streets. Caller reports seeing eight males, all carrying bats and rocks, walking around; they appear to be looking for someone. Hears yelling and thinks a fight might be pending. Officers were unable to locate.

8:16 p.m. - Suspicious Circumstances/Brandished Weapon: Occurred at 5th Avenue and Bay Road. A passenger in a black hatchback pointed a gun at the caller, then drove off westbound toward El Camino Real. Passenger described as dark-skinned, wearing a red sweatshirt with black stripes. Officers were unable to locate.

8:48 p.m. - Petty Theft: Occurred on Walnut Street. Three black males and a black female stole t-shirts and tennis shoes from a business, then left in a vehicle about 20-25 minutes ago. Video surveillance available. Report taken.

10:39 p.m. - Gun Shots Heard: Occurred on Dodge Drive. Report taken.

11:58 p.m. - Stolen Vehicle: Occurred on Chestnut Street. A commercial vehicle, a 2011 Freightliner, was stolen. Report taken.

 

Tuesday, Dec. 4

7:23 a.m. - Disturbance: Occurred on Whipple Avenue. Caller says apartment was recently vacated, and a transient woman keeps crawling inside through the window and sleeping in the back room. Officers were just there yesterday asking her to leave. Subject was gone upon officers' arrival.

9:01 a.m. - Theft & Vehicle Burglary: Occurred on Page Street. Caller reports the chrome steps off his Chevy Avalanche truck were stolen. He is concerned because whoever did it also entered his backyard and stole his bike. Report taken.

9:58 a.m. - Suspicious Package: Occurred on Broadway. Caller is reporting an unattended suitcase on the ground, facing the building.

10:54 a.m. - Residential Burglary: Occurred on Redwood Avenue. Unknown subject entered the rear duplex via the back door in an attempt to burglarize the home. He entered the back room where the male and female residents were sleeping. When he saw the couple, he fled. Suspect was described as 16-18 years old, tall and thin, wearing a dark hoodie. Report taken.

5:31 p.m. - Disturbance: Occurred at Roosevelt Avenue and Upton Street. In an apparent road rage incident, the driver of one car got out of his car and approached the other car, yelled at the female driver, then ripped her side mirror off and simulated a gun with his hand, pointing it at her. Subject described as a white male in his late 40s, "scruffy," wearing a gray shirt. Drove a green Acura. Officers were unable to locate.

7:02 p.m. - Battery/Disturbance: Occurred on James Avenue. Caller reports seeing a group of 4-5 men, black and Hispanic, beating up another juvenile male in a gray hoodie about 10 minutes ago. 

9:43 p.m. - Person Down: Occurred on Pine Street. A man is passed out in the street next to a car. Medics enroute.

11:01 p.m. - Armed Robbery: Occurred on Broadway. A male subject wearing a red hoodie and with a covered face stole cash from a register then took off on foot toward Chestnut. Had a gun, possibly a bb-gun. Report taken.

11:20 p.m. - Armed Robbery: Occurred on El Camino Real. Man robbed business then ran on foot toward Madison. Had a black mask covering his face and a gun. Report taken.

 

Wednesday, Dec. 5

2:03 a.m. - DUI/Disturbance: Occurred at Arguello Street and Brewster Ave. Fight between a group of people from two vehicles. Arrest made for DUI.

7:23 a.m. - Stolen Vehicle: Occurred on Stambaugh Street. Vehicle last seen at 10:30 p.m. last night. Report taken.

8:32 a.m. - Stolen Vehicle: Occurred on Seaport Court. White 2002 Chevy, full-size cargo van. Report taken.

9:15 a.m. and 10:20 a.m. - Subject With Gun: Occurred on Broadway. A Hispanic male in his 20s wearing tan pants and a gray jacket was seen traveling westbound toward Chestnut waving a handgun, then stored it in his waistband. Report taken. Subject reported seen again roughly an hour later in the same area.

11:49 a.m. - Suspicious Persons: Occurred on Scott Avenue. Two male juveniles were seen firing guns - unknown if they are real or bb-guns. 

12:48 p.m. - Disturbance/Criminal Threats: Occured on Walnut Street. A man wanted to return a bb-gun he said is defective to a store, but the employee refused to exchange it for a new one. Subject became upset and threatened to come back and shoot the employee the next day. Described as a white male in his 60s with white hair and a beard wearing a leather jacket. Report taken.

3:42 p.m. - Disturbance: Occurred on El Camino Real. A suspect was seen by two security guards shoplifting. They approached the suspect and he began fighting them. Arrest made.

5:51 p.m. - Residential Burglary: Occurred on G Street sometime between 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The home's dog door was kicked open and miscellaneous personal items and tools were taken. Report taken.

7:31 p.m. - Stolen Vehicle: Occurred on Rolison Road sometime during the day. White 4-door Honda Civic. No suspect info. Report taken.
