If you'd like to tag along on the hike, meet at the SamTrans garage in San Carlos at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Editor's note: Local hiking enthusiast and San Carlos man-about town, Tom Davids, suggests weekly hikes on some of the Bay Area's most scenic trails. This Saturday he'll lead a group of hikers to Huddart County Park. If you'd like to join him, read on!

On Saturday, Jan. 11, we will hike through Huddart County Park.  We have hiked this route several times during the last few years and it continues to be one of my favorites. This is an 8 mile trek starting at the base of the large meadow picnic area at the Zwierlein trail head. Our route to Skyline is on the Dean Tr. and the Chinquapin Tr. connecting to the Skyline Tr. The return is on the Crystal Springs Tr.  The total elevation gain is about 1500ft.

There are toilet facilities at the trailhead but nothing beyond. Dogs are not permitted.

We will carpool from the SamTrans garage (entrance on the500 block of Laurel St), leaving at 8am and return by 2pm.
