Course description:

This 20-hour training includes 12-hour in class interactive and dynamic

training will teach you to successfully design, create, and facilitate

children's yoga classes that can be incorporated into a classroom, home

or therapeutic practice. The training continues outside the classroom

with 8-hours practicum, homework and access to online training

tutorials. This experiential training is specifically designed for yoga

instructors, teachers, parents, caregivers, therapists and other

individuals who are interested in working with preschool to middle

school aged children.


Course objectives:

You will leave this course with the ability to design and teach yoga in

a classroom or private setting for preschool through middle school aged

children in a positive, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate way

with the use of art, music, props and literature. You will also have

the tools to effectively deliver and manage a classroom in an ethical

manner.


Prerequisites:
Yoga Alliance certification is not required, but personal experience

with yoga, along with an interest in working with, and enriching the

lives of children, is a plus.

Materials needed:
We provide yoga mats for all students to use during class, however, you

are welcome to bring your own mat. Please dress comfortably and bring a

water bottle and snacks each day.


You will leave with:


> A complete library of warm-ups; individual, partner and group

poses; games; breathing techniques and relaxation exercises for children
> Tips for working with special needs children
> Effective classroom management techniques
> Sample classes for various age groups
> Access to s.p.y online training graduate community which provides continued collaboration and support opportunities

> Eligibility to join the stretch.play.yoga team and gain further training as a certified s.p.y educator
