David Chai Presentation on Anson Burlingame

The Museum
will present David Chai, who will discuss “Anson Burlingame: His Legacy in U.S.
– China Relations,” on Saturday, May 10 at 1 p.m.  Burlingame, from whom the San Mateo County
city is named, was chosen by President Abraham Lincoln to be Minister to
China.  He served as such from 1861 until
1867.  Chai will delve into how
Burlingame did much to improve U.S. – China relations during his tenure.  Chai is a past mayor of Foster City and now
sits on the Board of the San Mateo County Chapter of the Organization of
Chinese Americans.  The program is free
with the price of admission to the Museum ($5 for adults, $3 for seniors and students).  For
