Richards Road Vegetation Fire

Vegetation Fire sparked by downed PG&E power-lines in Woodside.

Today on the tenth of May, at approximately 2pm a vegetation fire was reported by passing motorists on south bound Interstate 280.

The vegetation fire was initially dispatched for the area of Edgewood Road and Canada Road. However when fire crews got in the area they discovered that the fire was nowhere near the area first given by dispatch.

Fire crews later determined that the vegetation fire was north of Richards Road Trail between Richard Road Trail and Phleger Road.

Since fire crews were not able to locate the fire right away, they requested a Calfire air attack unit out of Gilroy be deployed. The air attack team responded to the area with two fixed wing aircraft and a helicopter to fight the fire from the air.

Due to the location of this fire no structures were threatened.

After an hour into the fire incident ground crews were able to determine that the best access would be from Richards Road Trail in Huddart Park.

Fire crews determined the cause of today's 50ft by 100ft vegetation fire was caused by a downed PG&E high voltage power line that sparked the blaze.

Fire crews from both local and state fire agencies still remain on the scene check for hot spots as of 5:30pm.
