Vote: Where's the City's Best Burrito?

Patch asks the impossible: name the best burrito in Redwood City.

They are the near-perfect food.

An excess of all your favorite ingredients swaddled in a soft, chewy tortilla--burritos are packaged in such a way that they can be eaten at an elegant table, a park bench, or from behind the wheel.

And thank your lucky stars that they never seem to be a few blocks at your local Redwood City restaurant or supermarket.

Where else can you get this balance of veggies, carbs, protein and flavor for (typically) under five bucks? And what other food moves so effortlessly from breakfast (eggs, chorizo and salsa) to lunch (grilled shrimp, shredded cabbage, lime), to dinner (beef, rice, refried beans, cheese, salsa)?

Cast your vote and tell in the comment section below where in Redwood City you go when you crave the perfect burrito. We know there are tons, so please comment to let us know if we've missed one and it will be added to the poll.

, 5th Ave.

Polls close at 9 a.m. on Friday, and the winner will be announed at noon.

My vote would have been for the Chavez on Arguello too. There needs to be a spot for other or a write in vote for these polls.

My bofriend once waited over 25 mins for Sanchos burritos and didnt even get an apology for the wait. We go to Chavez now. I also like La Victoria on Main

Hey Mexcal at Middlefield & 5th is my favorite. Great people (two sisters run it) and great fresh food, incl things for vegetarians. We take out from there as often as twice as week sometimes.
Dave Johnson May 14, 2012 at 05:05 PM
Now I see that Azteca isn't on the list!!! That was my favorite before Mexcal.

you forgot one of the best places to buy local home cooked meals in Redwood City! Chavez Supermarkets has the BEST burritos!!! How can you even consider Una Mas good? Booo, its Chavez Supermarkets all the way! I hope you update your list and add Chavez!
Claudia Aguilar May 14, 2012 at 05:40 PM
Chavez by far the best burritos! I prefer the one on 5th Ave. same food as the one on Arguello, but they have about 4-5 guys taking orders so the line goes fast. La Azteca would be my second choice.

Narranjo's across from City Pub. Even better than Chavez. No quicky grill top gringo food there. Narranjo's family enterprise is all traditional home cook'n - their meat is stewed in giant pots for hours or carnitas are roasted traditionally.

Ron, I was just about to post the same thing. I think they should start the poll over.

La Azteca!!! I grew up on their burritos & always make a point to stop in when back in town. The carnitas is the best.
Juan Garcia May 15, 2012 at 05:01 AM
Chavez Super Market has the best burritos in the bay area.. :)
Christi May 15, 2012 at 02:11 PM
Sanchos has never gotten my order correct and some of their staff are rude! I go to Chavez and Rositas. The ladies that work at Rositas are so nice.. The best burritos are at Parajo Food Market, just off of 1 in Parajo/Watsonville...
Edgar Castillo May 15, 2012 at 04:14 PM
Obvious! Chavez Super! The best Burritos.

I love Nikko's, such a unique variety of burritos. Some of my favs are the Jiffy, surf and turf, and the charbroiled ahi is to die for. Can't beat the prices now a days, where else can you buy a tasty burrito for 4.95?
Manuel May 15, 2012 at 09:14 PM

La mejor comida que he probado Chavez supermarket
Susan Swope May 17, 2012 at 02:32 AM
Those are my two choices when I want a burrito.
Roger Brina May 17, 2012 at 03:27 PM
I'm sorry, but Chavez is gross. Super salty and greasy and the burrito sits in your stomach like a lead weight. You do get value for money though 'cause you can make two meals, maybe even three, out of one burrito.
Rick May 18, 2012 at 03:26 AM
I have to agree Chavez is gross. Had a carnitas burrito it was cold and greasy.who wants cold pork lard yuk!!
Karen D May 21, 2012 at 04:31 PM
We love Rosita's Taco Stop. The people are nice, chips are great and salsas are fantastic -- we think the salas are the best in the bay area! They customer make our burritos -- they are so tasty that we try to eat there at least once a week!
