Juan Gamez, who owns three El Grullense taquerias in Redwood City and Palo Alto as well as Bay Burger, will open a new El Grullense location in town soon, near the Target shopping center.

"I love [doing business in Redwood City]," Gamez said. "I couldn't think of a better place. We've done really well here."

Though, of course, people come to El Grullense for the tacos, he says the chain is equally famous for its signature salsa.

"Our salsa is homemade," he said. "We have green salsa that is mild and red salsa that is hot. So we are really known by our salsa, for its quality."

Just like El Grullense's salsa, Gamez said his other business, Bay Burger, is knows for its freshness and quality, as well.

"We get deliveries every day, so we get fresh meat every day," he said. "So they're really gourmet burgers."

Fans of Gamez' El Grullense have plenty of good things to say on Yelp.com, like Jeff V. of Redwood City who wrote, "Good food, pretty fast when they're not crowded, and a pretty wide range of items to choose from."

Steph C. wrote, "The menu is huge to the point of overwhelming, but everything I've tried so far has been good. I think my favorite is still the carnitas and goat tacos and their fruit shakes - particularly strawberry - so that's my regular order."

Gamez said the new El Grullense will open in about three weeks at 2525 El Camino Real.
