Four-Dollar Gas Looms for Redwood City/Woodside Drivers

The price of a gallon of regular gas in Redwood City and Woodside is rising, with several stations hitting $3.99 Friday.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Mateo County is inching closer to $4, a price much of the rest of California is already paying.

The average price of regular gasoline in California jumped 22.8 cents in the past week to a statewide average of $3.904, according to the state's Energy Almanac.

The Wall Street Journal reported the average price at the pump in the San Francisco area was $3.93 earlier this week, up 21 cents from late January. The price of a gallon of gas has already topped $4 in Southern California, averaging $4.03 on Tuesday, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.

The spike in gas prices was traced back to the usual suspects: refinery problems, high crude oil prices and the costs of converting production lines to California's summer gas blend, the Mercury News reported.

In Redwood City, the cheapest gas is currently at the Olympian station at 699 El Camino Real. Costco ($3.83/gallon on Friday afternoon). However, several stations in Redwood City hit $3.99/gallon on Friday.

I agree, the public has the right to know what they are eating. It is absurd to be purchasing foodRead More that contains GMOs and not be able to know it is in the food.... why the secret if it is so safe??? I will not shop at any food stores that refuse to provide the public with information on what I am eating or serving to the people I care about. Trader Joes and Whole Foods have my loyalty for having the courage to stand up against the big guys and set an example by doing what is right for the consumer and not folding to pressure from Monsanto, Dupont and the other corporate giants that could care less about our safety and only care about how much money they can rake in.
