National Coffee Day is this Sunday, Sept. 29. If you’re dragging a bit, you can get a free cup at Starbucks and Peet's in Belmont and Redwood City.

Starbucks is offering free samples of their new Ethiopia coffee on Sept. 29according to the Starbucks website. Those who purchase a bag of the Ethiopia coffee that day will receive commemorative Ethiopia tasting cup.

The National Coffee Association says 83 percent of Americans have had a cup of coffee in the past year.

While there are some health concerns about over-consumption of caffeine, “for most people the health benefits [of consuming coffee] outweigh the risks,” according to the Mayo Clinic. 

In moderation, coffee may help prevent Parkinson’s disease, Type 2 diabetes and liver cancer. It also contains antioxidants.
