Learn about Electric Vehicles or Catch R&B Singer Ginuwine in Concert

Celebrate "El Dia de los Ninos," attend a benefit concert or watch the talented dancers of Sequoia High School.

It’s the Dia de los Niños, or “Day of the Children,” at Fair Oaks Library featuring Victor Hugo Santos at 6 p.m. Santos has dedicated his time and his service to give children his gift of music.

Wednesday, April 27

Has $4 for a gallon of gas put a crimp in your budget? Have you ever considered driving an electric vehicle? Learn more about the electric car at this week’s “Verde Talk” at 6:30 p.m. You’ll be able to see the new Nissan LEAF all-electric car, as well as an eeVee Motors converted car. The speakers are Brendan Dolan, Nissan’s Community Director,  and Jerry Pohorsky from the Electric Auto Association. There will even be a drawing for a travel coffee mug at the end.

Friday, April 29

Check out the Teens in Action Showcase in Courthouse Square featuring information tables and displays by local youth leadership groups from 5 to 7:15 p.m. It also includes hip hop and break dance demonstrations, theater performance, live DJs and spoken word—all by local teens. Redwood City Mayor Jeff Ira will give the welcoming address, and fabulous prizes will be offered throughout the evening.

There will be a benefit concert at 7 p.m. with celebrated violinist Anne Akiko Meyers at Woodside High School’s Performing Arts Center. Concert proceeds will go to the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami disaster relief effort through the American Red Cross, Give2Asia, and the Japan Center for International Exchange. Meyers is one of the most celebrated violinists who has been the featured soloist with the world’s leading orchestras and collaborated with such artists as Michel Bolton, Chris Botti, and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Tickets start at $35.

Sequoia High School’s Dance Team will be putting on its annual Dance Show at 7:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday night. Check out all the great routines the dancers have been working hard on all year.
