Fox Theatre Proudly Boasts its New Magical Marquee

Fox Theater owners, along with Mayor Jeff Ira, unveiled the theater's brand-new marquee.

When Lori and Eric Lochtefeld took over ownership of Redwood City's historic Fox Theatere, they did so with a dream. Restoring the Fox Theatere to it's former glory, as well as bringing shows and performances throughout the year, became the Lochtefeld's mission.

On April 1 they were rewarded, as Redwood City Mayor Jeff Ira, as well as San Mateo Credit Union Vice President of Marketing Stephen Tabler, helped inaugurate the newly-renovated Fox Theatre Marquee. This marquee is reminiscent of the Fox Theater's appearance in the 1950's, when business was booming and the theater was one of Redwood City's most prominent attractions.

On Friday evening, as the lights shining outside the theater's facade grew steadily brighter in the gathering dusk, owners Lori and Eric Lochtefeld announced the official unveiling of the Fox Theatre's marquee, commemorating the moment by cutting a ribbon, and allowing the crowd of onlookers to file into the theater for the first show of the season.

This year, a not-for-profit organization called Broadway By The Bay will be at the Fox, starting with the musical “Forever Plaid”. April 1 marked Opening Night, with performances through April 17, and followed by a variety of shows throughout the year (visit http://www.foxrwc.com/ for show-times and more information).

With a newly glowing marquee in place, and events by Broadway By The Bay lined up for the remainder of the season, the Fox Theater is getting back on its feet, and owners Lori and Eric Lochtefeld have surely been an integral part of revitalizing this historic and cherished site.
