6th Annual PAMP Moon Festival

The Parents Club of Palo Alto Menlo Park (PAMP) is hosting the 6th Annual Children’s Moon Festival at the Mitchell Park Bowl. This event generally draws up to 2,000 people. The Moon Festival, also known as the Lantern Festival or the Moon Cake Festival, is one of the most important holidays on the Chinese calendar. A mid-Autumn harvest celebration, the festival dates back to the Tang dynasty in 618 A.D. It is a multi-cultural event also celebrated in Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan and the Philippines. Children light lanterns to give thanks for the good harvest. The children will enjoy activities such as coloring, storytelling, Kirigami (cutting paper), lantern decorating, and a lantern parade. The 6th Annual Moon Festival of PAMP celebrates the cultural diversity of our community through activities and performances from a variety of Asian cultures. The Firebird Chinese Orchestra, Studio Kicks, Palo Alto, Academy of Chinese Performing Arts and the Sandy Chow Dance Group will be providing various traditional performances. Sponsors for the event include International School of the Peninsula (ISTP), UrbanSitter and Palo Alto Community Child Care (PACC). Families and friends from Palo Alto, Menlo Park and surrounding neighborhoods are welcomed to join this fun family event and celebrate the good harvest by bringing our lanterns to life. This year PAMP also will be giving away over $7,500 in raffle prizes to award outstanding PAMP volunteers, including: family passes to the Bay Area Discovery Museum, an EarthBaby compostable diaper starter pack, 3-class passes to The Dailey Method, a 6-class yoga pass and library card at Blossom Birth, a Premium Complete Care Plus Basket from Nature Certified, a gift card to Toygaroo’s toy rental program, a Love and Logic parenting class from Clear Path Education, a gift certificate from DayOne, a pass to a four-week boot camp program from AlaVie, a two-hour design consultation with Michael Waxman from MN BUILDERS, and a baby product consulting package from Mona Sherawat of Cuddly Trendz.

The Parents Club of Palo Alto Menlo Park (PAMP) is a 3200+ volunteer-led, non-profit organization that provides support, social activities and structure enabling families to network and learn from each other.
