Here are a couple of events coming up Thursday and Friday week in Redwood City:

Author Event

On Thursday, Oct. 10, meet Alberto Hidalgo-Robert the author of the "Fat No More: A Teenager's Victory over Obesity"  in the Community Room of the downtown RWC Library.

In this touching and often humorous memoir, a young Latino man from El Salvador recalls his childhood as the obese center of his extended family. Teenagers, and perhaps especially Latino readers, will relate to his struggles with family expectations and sabotage." The author formerly studied and lived on the Peninsula. Sponsored by Friends of the Library.

Trivia BEE

And on Friday, test your trivia skills during the 24th Annual Trivia BEE sponsored by Redwood City Friends of Literacy/Project READ.

The Trivia BEE will be held Friday, Oct. 11 - 6:30 PM  at Cañada College.

Trivia BEE is an annual, raucously rowdy event that raises funds to help Project READ provide weekly services to over 500 adults and children who are working side by side with volunteer tutors in the pursuit of improving their basic reading and writing skills. Nationally recognized, award winning, and built on a tradition of innovative success, Project READ is a treasure to be celebrated.  Participating in the Trivia BEE is the perfect way to show your support.
