Celebrate “Climate Best by Government Test” This Weekend

The beautiful weather is finally upon us, so head outdoors for some great weekend events.

The sun is shining, and Redwood City is finally “Climate Best by Government Test” after the June gloom has passed. So head out this weekend to some great events in Redwood City.

This Friday, peruse beautiful masterpieces from oil paintings to delicate ceramics at Art on the Square in from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Art on the Square showcases the best in fine arts and crafts each month between June and September at Courthouse Square in downtown Redwood City.  Discover unique painting, photography, jewelry, glass, ceramics, and more at prices for every budget. Once you’re done browsing, you can continue the fun at Music on the Square.

Can you believe it’s been 50 years since the Class of 1961 graduated? Well, stop on by several Sequoia High School Alumni reunion events this weekend, starting with a "meet and greet" at on Friday night at 6 p.m. On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Sequoia High School Alumni Association's annual picnic will take place at . From 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday, alumni can mingle at Sparky's Hot Rod Garage in San Carlos.  On Sunday morning around 10 a.m., alumni are invited to for a "bring your own everything" picnic. At 2 p.m., head to downtown Redwood City and take the Path of History walking tour of the historic downtown area. It’s the last couple of days of the San Mateo County Fair and it’s got something for everyone. From crazy roller coasters to delicious mouth-watering ribs and other food to pig races, families and kids of all ages will be begging to stay longer. Go for a run this Saturday, June 18, at 9 a.m. with pro football great Roger Craig, who will be leading the 2.5 mile run through Edgewood County Park and Natural Preserve. This fun run is part of the monthly Take A Hike series of free, guided tours of county parks. For those who enjoy a more leisurely pace, hikers can choose from a 1.6-mile or 2.6-mile guided hikes. Catch the Grammy-nominated and platinum selling artist Sophie B. Hawkins at on Saturday, June 18, at 8 p.m. Best known for her hit songs “As I Lay Me Down” and “Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover Lately,” Hawkins has delighted crowds all over the world. Hawkins has been working on a new musical with actress Kristin Chenoweth and recently made a cameo on Melissa & Joan Rivers reality show "Joan Knows Best." She will release her next album this fall.

I agree, the public has the right to know what they are eating. It is absurd to be purchasing foodRead More that contains GMOs and not be able to know it is in the food.... why the secret if it is so safe??? I will not shop at any food stores that refuse to provide the public with information on what I am eating or serving to the people I care about. Trader Joes and Whole Foods have my loyalty for having the courage to stand up against the big guys and set an example by doing what is right for the consumer and not folding to pressure from Monsanto, Dupont and the other corporate giants that could care less about our safety and only care about how much money they can rake in.
