PHOTOS: Tree Lighting & Fireworks Dazzle

Hundreds turned out for the evening festivities at Saturday's Hometown Holidays Festival in downtown Redwood City.

The carnival and vendor booths were enjoyed by families from all over the Peninsula in the morning, and the Children's Parade attracted hundreds in the afternoon.

Then, at 5:45pm, Redwood City truly twinkled and shined as the Tree Lighting festivities and fireworks spectacular brought a very successful 2012 Hometown Holidays Festival to a close.

Vanessa and ctpiazza, Buckley Stone at Pete's Harbor says it is because some time ago the CityRead More dredged near muni and ran a pipe under to spill it out at Bair Island, so it is actually the remains of rotting sea life. He knows so much about this area having been at Pete's for 20 years and knowing so much about the area the tides and the nature and land around here.
