Residents Displaced by Woodside Road Fire Getting Timed Access to Homes

The Redwood City Fire Department is scheduling times on Tuesday for residents of 531 Woodside Road to go back home and reclaim belongings.

The Redwood City Fire Department is scheduling times on Tuesday for residents to return to their homes and retrieve items.

People who lived on the first floor of the apartments can check in from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and get 10 minutes inside of their apartment. A firefighter or police officer will be escorting people to and from their homes for safety, said Malcolm Smith, public communications manager for the City of Redwood City.

The check in station is at the command post on Murray Court, which is on the east side of the apartment complex next to the Woodside Terrace senior housing complex.

People with apartments on the second floor can check in from 1:30-4:30 p.m.

Access for residents who lived on the third floor has not been scheduled yet.  Emergency personnel are working to make that floor safe, said Smith.

Residents with cars parked in the garage should tell people at the check in station that they want to retrieve their vehicles, so that can be arranged.
