Mountain Lion Seen in Emerald Hills

A mountain lion was heard in the back yard of a home in the 700 block of Oakview Way in Emerald Hills, California on Friday, according to The San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services.

The person who reported hearing the lion at 3 a.m. said they found a deer carcass in the area where they heard the lion's sounds.

The SPCA removed the body. The Sheriff’s office was notified of the event on Monday and is now asking residents near the area to be alert of their surroundings.

While most mountain lions will avoid confrontation, San Mateo County residents are advised to avoid interacting with mountain lions that are feeding or have their offspring nearby.

Mountain lions are most active from dusk to dawn, according to the Office of Emergency Services.  For more information vist www.keepmewild.org
