Obituary: Jeffrey Alan Garcia, Native of Redwood City

A civil engineer, Jeff had a successful career in civil design and construction, including 17 years at Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART). He was a graduate of Woodside High School and San Jose State University.

Jeffrey Alan Garcia passed away unexpectedly in the early hours on Sunday in his home in Lafayette, CA.

Jeff was born and raised in Redwood City by his loving parents Betty and Wally Garcia. He graduated from Woodside High School and earned a degree in Civil Engineering from San Jose State University.  Jeff was an Engineer at heart from a young age, and worked 24+ years in civil design and construction involving transit (rail) and highway projects, including the last 17+ years at BART.

He could always be found cheering on his stepsons at their basketball games, and was also a huge 49er, Giants, and Warriors fan. His interests also included cars (especially Camaros!) and golfing, and he spent his spare time with family and his best friend Duke, a chocolate lab.

Jeff will be dearly missed by his loving wife Vicki, his mother Betty, stepsons Justin (Janae) and Chris (Misha), and grandson Bennett.  He is also survived by his brothers Greg (Jenny, Ashley and Sydney) and Chris (Bethany, Gia).

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 10am, followed by a service at 11am, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 1035 Carol Lane in Lafayette.  Burial to follow at Oakmont Memorial Park, 925-935-3311.
