Redwood City Hires Valets for Downtown

More than a dozen downtown businesses will offer valet service, starting this Friday.

Parking your car just got a bit easier in Redwood City, now that downtown businesses will offer valet parking on the weekends.

Starting Friday, car drivers can take their vehicle to the intersection of Middlefield and Broadway between the hours of 6 and 11 p.m. and have someone park it for them.

The cost of the service is $10, although if you visit a participating merchant and have your ticket validated, you can cut that down to $5.

Places where you can validate your ticket:

  • ARYA Global Cuisine
  • Café La Tartine
  • Chipotle Mexican Grill
  • Downtown (coming soon)
  • Dragon Productions Theatre
  • Fish’s Wild
  • Five Guys Burgers & Fries
  • The Melt
  • New Kapadokia
  • Old Spaghetti Factory
  • Pizza My Heart
  • Portobello Grill
  • Quinto Sol
  • Saba Café
  • Sakura Teppanyaki & Sushi
  • Yoppi Frozen Yogurt

The initiative was organized by the Downtown Business Group, Fox Theatre, and Shops on Broadway, with the City of Redwood City’s cooperation.

The valets, employed by All About Parking, will place vehicles in the parking lot by the San Mateo County History Museum. It is unclear if they expect to be tipped, although most valets would probably welcome the extra cash. You can find them on Friday and Saturday nights.

During the summer, the city hosts a concert series, called Music on the Square, which will change where you can drop off your car.  From June 7 through Sept. 27, you’ll need to take your car to Winslow at Theatre Way.  See the above map.
