Thomas Tobin, Local Business

For 25 years, Thomas Tobin worked in the television news business as a reporter, photographer, producer, executive producer and assistant news director. Spending most of his career in Washington, DC and New York City, Thomas was witness too, and responsible for, overseeing coverage of some of the most historic events of our time.

He got his start as as intern at the NBC station in Bluefield, West Virginia and landed his first producing job in Roanoke, Virginia while still a senior at Virginia Tech. He went on to report and produce at several other stations in Virginia before eventually landing a producing role at the Fox Owned Television Station in Washington, DC.

It was also in DC where he landed his first Executive Producer role at top rated NBC owned WRC-TV where he worked under the same roof as legendary journalists like Tim Russert and Pete Williams. It was only a few years later that New York took notice and Thomas was hired as Assistant News Director at WABC where he led the day-to-day editorial coverage of the number one television station in the country. Thomas’s career also included several other Executive Producer roles in DC and New York.

Perhaps his favorite was leading the team responsible for 6 hours of morning news and programming on New York’s Legendary WPIX.
