Occupy Redwood City
Occupy Redwood City (ORWC) is a local, grassroots democratic movement inspired by and standing in solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street movement and movements for justice around the world.
We encourage sustainable, visible, accessible activism. We want to foster a new culture of direct action and local activism against income inequality as well as both corporate and government unaccountability in the communities of Redwood City and elsewhere along the Peninsula. We value peaceful cooperation and the empowerment of humanity to engage in the democratic process regardless of socioeconomic status, religious affiliation, or political ideology. We are shining a light on the corporate and political corruption of Wall Street and in Washington which has methodically increased oppression worldwide in favor of the 1%. We demand accountability for the commission of these crimes. We will not tolerate the wealthiest one percent buying our government, nor our politicians selling it. We are reasserting our role in democracy. We are all in this together. We are the 99%. *** ORWC meets every Friday at 5 PM at Courthouse Square to rally and converse with each other. The General Assembly commences at about 6 PM. Come join us to see what true participatory democracy looks like! *** This Patch account is run by ORWC's Media and Communications Working Group.
