Sequoia Veterans Memorial

Located in front of Sequoia High School, the Sequoia Veterans Memorial is dedicated to Sequoia High School students whoMore gave their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Dee Rowan Eva and her husband, Richard Eva, from the Class of 1961, erected the Memorial with the help of the Sequoia High School Alumni Association. Across the top of the monument are the emblems of the California National Guard, the United States Air Force, the United States Marine Corps, the United States Army, the United States Navy, the United States Coast Guard and the United States Merchant Marines. The emblem of Sequoia High School is displayed in the center.
Sequoia Union High School District

Sequoia Union School District schools was founded in 1895 and serves 8,200 students through the district. TheMore district schools located in Redwood City are: Adult School, Sequoia High School, Middle College (a collaboration with Cañada College), Redwood City High School, and Everest Public High School and Summit Prepatory High School, which operate independently of the district but lie within the boundaries.

In 2009-10, all of the district's comprehensive high schools made Newsweek's list of top high schools and ranked in the top tier of the state's similar-school rankings.

The District emphasizes the California High School Exit Exam and UC college requirements to students. They also provide a Teen Wellness Center, which provides physical exams, pregnancy prevention and reproductive health care, crisis management, and other services. The Center is staffed by physicians, nurse practitioners, a psychologist, an eligibility worker, a social worker and other health care professionals.

The County Office of Education is an educational service agency serving all 24 school districts in San Mateo County,More including the three in Redwood City: Sequoia Union High School District, Redwood City Elementary School District, and the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District. The office serves as the liaison between the California Department of Education and local districts. Over 9,000 personnel provide support and monitoring to school districts in: business management, financial auditing, data processing, payroll accounting, human resources, legal services, school district boundaries, state financial standards, and teacher credential registration. It provides Special Education Services, Student Services Division, and Internal Business Services. 
Cañada College

Cañada College is a community college high up in the hills of the Peninsula. It offers an affordable option forMore earning Cal State University and UC transfer units. With only 6,000 students, it is one of the smallest community colleges in the Bay Area, allowing for more attention towards each individual. Through its University Center, it also offers bachelor's degrees. Cañada College offers degrees for those who wish to pursue careers in medical assisting, radiologic technology, multimedia, early childhood education, fashion design, interior design, human services, accounting, business technology and many other fields. It is one of the highest-achieving community colleges in the Bay Area. While it is also a community college, Cañada College allows high school students to take courses beginning in their sophomore year so they can essentially complete their first two years of college for free. The Middle College High School program offers an alternative to high school students from the Sequoia High School district who prefer a non-traditional education. The Upward Bound Program provides Sequoia High School students the opportunity to take classes to advance their education.
