Located in the heart of downtown Redwood City, this library used to be a fire station before it became a bustling…More community center. It earned the prestigious "five star rating" from the Library Journal Index of Public Library Service, making it the top rated library in the Bay Area.</p> <p>In addition to thousands of books in its collection, the library provides literacy programs, foreign language education, and access to over 130 public computers with wireless access. The library hosts a Project READ literacy program that helps the diverse community increase their literacy levels. Over 1,400 volunteers have given over 100,000 hours of their time.</p> <p>To maintain its exceptional services, the five-member Library Board appointed by the City Council for terms of three years meets monthly. In the library, there is a Local History Collection that documents Redwood City's colorful past in photos and historical documents.</p> <p>The library also runs another branch in Redwood Shores. </p>
