The schools of the Redwood City School District have seen steadily rising API scores, largely due to the dedicatedMore faculty, teachers, parents and students of the District. 

The school emphasizes blocks of time for reading, writing, math, social studies and science. Targeted instructional groupings (TIG) allow students to receive instructions tailored to their specific needs. The district offers 16 schools, from the four "schools of choice" to certain schools focused more on technology (McKinley Institute of Technology) and the performing arts (John Gill).

MIT is a middle school highly focused on integrating technology into every classroom. Teaching grades 6 throughMore 8, the school requires applicants to participate in this progressive environment.

Recently, the school partnered with Apple to lease 500 computers. This adds to its 30-station iMac lab, a 15-station Mac lab and a 30-station PC lab. In addition to the computer labs, there are five to 10 computers in every classroom. All classrooms have Internet and cable television. Technology such as video cameras, digital cameras, scanners, projection hardware and audio equipment are available for students. Software for the students includes Appleworks, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Claris Home Page, Dreamweaver, Inspiration, iMovie and Adobe PhotoShop. 

Its partners include the Tech Museum of Innovation and Oracle's Think.com—a secure online community where students can learn over the Internet.
