Hoover Community School places an emphasis on language arts, mathematics, English language development, science andMore technology. Located near public libraries in Redwood City, the Boys & Girls Club, and Hoover Park, it is well situated in a very active community. Teachers use research-based instructional strategies, receive ongoing staff development, and design curriculum to best meet student needs. Instruction is rigorous and based on the state standards for each subject area. The school has partnered with the Sobrato Foundation to support Spanish and English language development for grades pre-kindergarten to third grade. Hoover has school-wide Internet access, more than 250 Macintosh computers, and two computer labs.

In addition to early exposure to academics, Hoover focuses on child development as well. Self-esteem boosts andMore positive self imaging are important aspects of the Hoover education. Traits like creativity and imagination are encouraged as well. In a warm, comfortable environment, children can engage with their peers and adults to build crucial social skills. 

Activities like dramatic play, music, movement, art, and fine and gross motor activities all stimulate these skills. They also become more independent and develop a sense of self. Most staff members are trained in Early Childhood Education, many with Baccalaureate Degrees.
