DayBreak Shelter

For 20 years, the DayBreak Shelter has offered assistance to families and youth through transitional housing forMore homeless teens. The shelter is managed by Kara Wahlin and provides training in various skills for independent living. The residents stay for a six-month program while they attend school and work, learning to cook, shop, manage money, find jobs and locate housing.
Catholic Worker House

Established in 1975, the Catholic Worker House of Redwood City serves the needs of the homeless and hungry in the localMore community. It also has a program in place for teenagers, a breakfast program for day laborers and classes for immigrant women to learn English. The services are free and all work is done by volunteers.
Samaritan House Free Clinic of Redwood City

The Samaritan House offers a number of services to the Redwood City community, including everything fromMore housing, adult education classes, medical services, food and shelter. Each month,  Samaritan House Free Clinic offers one-to-one counseling to 400 clients in person and another 50 over the telephone. </p> <p>It also offers one-time emergency assistance to those who find an unexpected car repair or unpaid absence from work a financial crisis. Its interest rate is a generous $20 per month. The Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing (HPRP) program provides numerous services to help get a roof over people's heads. </p> <p>The clinic in Redwood City provides medical as well as dental services to uninsured, low-income residents. The Clinic employs only eight staff members, yet provides over 9,000 patient visits each year.</p>
