Where are all the kids of these families going to go to school? The schools are already at…Read More capacity now. As far as "This shows that developers have great confidence in Redwood City" To me it shows something different - RWC values developers more than the community and will allow rampant growth as long as they get more tax revenues and bigger salaries. What about the traffic these developments will bring? Who will cover the infrastructure costs of roads, fire department and water? How many of these developments are going to offer low cost housing? And " The city expects that the new housing units will attract a different type of person to Redwood City" Yes, they want to change RWC into a Palo Alto or Los Altos and many of the low income people that have been residents for years will be pushed out of the area. It's already been happening for the last decade. Look at the traffic we have now. It's a pipe dream that everyone is going to be walking around - it might be that is the only way you can get anywhere with all the added traffic congestion the city will have.

Well Vanessa, I would need to think about a good anchor store, probably a market for grocery…Read More shopping and an Apple Store. In addition, I think that Redwood City should have at least 2 hours free parking. I know families that shop Menlo Park, and San Carlos to avoid paying for parking. It doesn't make sense to have shops, etc downtown where customers and people that work there have to pay for public parking. It's like shooting yourself in the foot!

"High speed rail is the best in the world in terms of pollution"
Debatable, and that's…Read More ONLY if all of the potential HSR trains are FULL. If they're not, you end up spending effectively the same amount of fuel transporting much fewer people.
If the trains are not full, HSR is a fuel waster and as a result contributes MORE pollution than air travel.
The trains will not be anywhere near full. Virtually every other HSR line proves that.

Diridon said. "If we don't have mass transportation, we don't have a Silicon Valley."…Read More
What??? OK, 1st of all, Silicon Valley DOES have mass transit.
2nd of all, opposing HSR has NOTHING to do with regional transportation. People can be FOR Caltrain/Bart/SamTran/VTA improvements, but think HSR is a collossal waste of money.

If they do, they're breaking THE LAW. That initial segment is about 300 miles long and every mile needs EIR clearance.
They have 25 miles of EIR clearance.

I don't know where they get these numbers since they don't count people like me who exhausted our…Read More unemployment benefits. I had to collect my Social Security benefits before I wanted to and don't have any health insurance. I still go to the doctor and dentist but just pay out of pocket which is certainly much less expensive than what the insurance companies want me to pay each month. I wish the news would stop reporting these stories because I just don't think they are accurate. How about the data being reported on the people in my situation?

I think you have a valid point, unfortunately there are no agencies that actually study and report…Read More on those that have left the workforce. And as the article points out, most of the jobs created were low paying and temporary.
