Bob Heflin and JoAnne McDonnell's floating home at Docktown
Susan Swope June 19, 2013 at 11:08 am
Come on, Bill. You know that calling these homes "vessels" is ridiculous on its face. IfRead More you lived there, I don't think you'd be willing to sign the lease you've proposed. We should be looking at ways to preserve Docktown, not obliterate it. It is part of the character of Redwood City. The City needs to rethink this.

Definitely a boat. They just forgot to take down the cardboard picture before fencing up the harbor.Read More ;-)

@Richard Defs. Not sure which side you are on here, but there are differences between boatingRead More harbors (like Westpoint) and Houseboat harbors (like Sausalito, and Alameda.) But there are limited numbers of the the latter and they tend to be full up, on top of which it's very dangerous to tow a big house out across the Bay. Docktown is a floating community and the people here quite willing to live by appropriate standards like those that govern the houseboat communities in Sausalito. Having been here for decades with the full knowledge of the City they should now be allowed to stay.

I appreciate them too, but feel the quality could be greatly improved. There's lots of great,Read More authentic musicians around in all musical genres. But the cheezy cover bands belong at the County Fair. Maybe I'm in the minority ...

I too enjoyed the last event. My husband and I were walking downtown when we came across all theRead More music, tents, people and food. We had forgotten about these Friday night concerts. We stopped and enjoyed the great band, talked to people we knew, and even danced a little. We will certainly plan on doing this again. The next day we took our granddaughters to the summer reading kick-off celebration at the library...what a great outing that was! I feel so fortunate to live in a city that cares about providing quality entertainment. Redwood city has become the place that knows how to do things right. Keep it up!

Cheezy bands or not, Redwood City's public entertainment offerings are one of the things that makeRead More it such an incredible place to live!

Yes, the real estate market here in Redwood City has been booming for several months now. The homeRead More prices specifically in Redwood City support the numbers in this article.. Redwood City sold prices have risen 25% since May 2012 with a median sold price of $957,565. Inventory has declined with the number of for sale properties down 6%, year to year with a total of 155 homes available in May, 2013.

I hope Lowe's does!! It is no wonder that OSH is folding, they stopped carrying so m any items andRead More it forced us to have to drive all the way to that other store - HOME DEPOT :(
Palomar Parkman June 18, 2013 at 09:51 am
It would be a shame to loose the option of OSH despite their changes in inventory stocking. I don'tRead More want to have to defer to Home Depot. If Lowes does acquire them, hopefully they will give us more selection than OSH currently offers. The bottom line seems to be that the business is viable but that the huge dividend payouts to parent K-Mart/Sears did OSH in. Looks like K-Mart took a page from the Bain Capital playbook!
