The North Fair Oaks Community Council Has an Important Mission

The North Fair Oaks Community Council plays an important role in the community and now their meetings are available online.

The North Fair Oaks Council is an advisory body to the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors on matters of health, safety, public works, planning and building, and issues that promote the welfare of the residents.

North Fair Oaks is the most densely populated unincorporated area of San Mateo County and located between the cities of Redwood City, Menlo Park and Atherton.  It is home to approximately 15,000 (+) people and encompasses approximately 750 acres.

Originally formed in 1987 for a two-year project to secure federal Community Development Block Grant funding to promote study economic strategies for the area, it became a permanent body in 1990. They advocated for the development of Code Enforcement Officer and Program, a Graffiti Abatement Program, the Fifth Avenue Grade Separation design, the development brochures on codes and regulations regarding automobiles and alcohol related businesses, clean-up events and more.

With the implementation phase of the North Fair Oaks Plan to come before the Board of Supervisors, the Council has a critical role in making sure that the residents understand and help shape future directions.

There are nine members on the Council, six represent residents (homeowners or renters) and three represent business (merchants and commercial ventures) from the North Fair Oaks area.
