Habitat for Humanity for Greater San Francisco will hold the grand opening of ReStore at 1411 Industrial Rd. in San Carlos on Sat., Sept. 22 at 10:00 a.m. The store will open at 11 a.m. for purchases.
ReStore re-sells used items and materials, preventing them from being discarded in landfills. These items are also sold at a discounted price.
All proceeds from the ReStore support Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco’s ability to provide affordable homeownership to families in our community. Volunteers also help to keep prices affordable for families that can’t afford typical home improvement materials.
San Carlos assistant city manager Brian Moura believes ReStore will be a hit in San Carlos and surrounding communities.
"ReStore is a nice fit given the many building materials and craftsmen (cabinet makers, tile shops, etc.) in that part of town," Moura said.
He added that the city hopes to promote itself as the go-to spot for home remodeling and do-it-yourself projects.
"I’ve had folks from other cities tell me they come to San Carlos and can get pretty much everything they need for a remodel project right here," said Moura.
"People know that Kelly Moore Paints was founded and has its world headquarters in San Carlos and we have Home Depot – but there’s much more in that category."
"We’ve had residents ask about a building materials re-use store in the past. Habitat made a great decision to put the ReStore here. I suspect Saturday’s opening will be a success," said Moura.
