Photos: Steve Penna Celebrates Birthday for Charity

The Spectrum Magazine owner raised over $4,000 for the Police Activities League.

Joined by several locally elected officials, Steve Penna celebrated his birthday in style, but not with lavish gifts. He requested that all guests donate to the Police Activities League, a non-profit that provides programming for Redwood City youth, rather than give him presents for a total of $4,000.

Councilmembers Ian Bain, Rosanne Foust, Jeff Gee and John Seybert as well as city staff members Bob Bell, Silvia Vonderlinden and Chris Beth were there. State Assemblymen Jerry Hill and Rich Gordon were also in attendance to wish Penna “Happy Birthday.”

The event featured hosted appetizers, beverages, a buffet dinner and dessert, all from local Redwood City businesses. The entertainment was supplied by the Redwood City Community Theater Group who performed two numbers from their upcoming play Legally Blonde and a Video Disc Jockey supplied the music for dancing.
