2012 Race to Save Student Activities

The New Haven Boosters Association’s Third Annual “Race to Save Student Activities” will take place on Sunday, May 6, at at Cesar Chavez Middle School.

This event raises funds for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities at all NHUSD schools.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and the first race will start at 9 a.m. The “Race” features 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer walk/runs staring from Cesar Chavez Middle School and continuing along the Alameda Creek Trail, as well as age-group races on the school track. Kids races start at 10:30 a.m.

The event has something for everyone – from serious runners to casual walkers and families.

  • Competitive runner? Challenge the field of 5K or 10K runners and see how you match up.  (Serious runners will be invited to start in the first section of the running group.)
  • Casual runner? Come on out! Our 5K and 10K options will be great fun on a popular course!
  • Like to get out and walk on the weekend? Join the fun atmosphere and a very nice 5K course.
  • Families: We have fun races that are appropriate for whatever age children you have!

Thanks to the community member for posting this note. One correction is that the event is not free. Prices are as follows and proceeds all go towards helping save New Haven Unified's co-curricular programs: $10.00 for Grades K-8 $15.00 for High School Runners $25.00 for gneral pre-registration 5K & 10K runners $40.00 for 4x400m Kids Relay Team Other important information: Deadline to register and be guaranteed an event T-Shirt is Monday, 4/23. I’m sure the school administration will find a way to waste any money the boosters give them, much like they used the money from the boosters last year to build a new score board for the Logan field

No - they did not use the money we gave them last year for a scoreboard. It all went to extra-curricular and co-curricular activities.

What do you mean, in my dreams? I helped raised that money and know where it went. I also am a very active volunteer.
