Undefeated and Undaunted, BRS All Stars March On

The 11/12 year-old Belmont-Redwood Shores Little League All Stars have advanced to the winners bracket in the division tournament in Rosedale.

Belmont Redwood Shores (BRS) 11/12 year old All-Stars continued undefeated in Division Tournament play Sunday beating out West Sacramento, 7-5. 

In the first 2 games of the Division Tournament this weekend, BRS nailed 5 out of the park homeruns from Brad Shimabuku, Luke Bugbee, Noah Marcelo, Dominic Susa and Sean Lee accounting for 9 of the total 2 game 17 RBIs.  

BRS continues to remain undefeated in All-Star play with more than 400 games already eliminated as they advance into the Winner's Bracket Semi-final game on Wednesday night in Rosedale. 

Sunday game recap:

First inning: Nicolas Lopez and Dominic Susa both hit singles but no runs scored. In the bottom of first, Brad Shimabuku was throwing heat on the mound striking out the first 2 batters followed by a Double and grounding out the 4th batter, ending the inning, 0-0. 

Second inning: It was 3 batters up and 3 down for both teams as the players tried to keep cool in the 90 degree weather. 

Third inning: With 2 outs on the board, Shimabuku and Susa hit back-to-back home runs for 3 RBIs, Sean Lee and Taylor Douglis hit singles and Luke Bugbee was walked to load the bases for Jake Stulbarg up to bat who walked in a run ending the inning, 4-0.   

Fourth inning: First batter Noah Marcelo continued his all-star homerun streak, smashing it out of the park for 1 RBI.  Shimabuku and Lee both hit singles, Susa was walked for bases loaded again, Douglis up to bat hits a fly ball into deep center field giving Shimabuku time to tag up and score, ending the inning 6-0.  In the bottom of the fourth, Shimabuku still on the mound, West Sacramento drove in 3 runs, ending the inning, 6-3. 

Fifth inning: Marcelo and Lopez both hit singles driving in 1 RBI, 7-3. In the bottom of the 5th, Lopez takes the mound, 2 runs came in, ending the inning 7-5. 

Sixth inning: No runs scored. In the bottom of sixth, Lopez at the mound, delivered 1 out before relief pitcher Susa was brought in to shut down the game.   

BRS remains undefeated in All-Star Tournament play, advancing to the winner bracket semi-finals on Wednesday night in Rosedale.
