Video: Woodside HS Performs Timeless Love Story 'Aida'

Students embody Elton John and Tim Rice’s famous love triangle in the Tony-Award winning musical “Aida” all this week.

In a preview of “Aida” Thursday afternoon, the three main characters stood in isolated spotlights, pouring their hearts into every lyric

There the three main characters of “Aida” stood in isolated spotlights, pouring their tragic emotions into the song “A Step Too Far,” yet forming a perfect triplet of melding harmonies.

Audience members forget that the performers are Woodside High students, who evoke professional poise and perfection imbued in every note and gesture.

If one can get goose bumps from a preview performed for the school body, the entire musical is sure to be spectacular.

“Aida” will be playing at Woodside High School’s Performing Arts Center at 199 Churchill Avenue on Fridays and Saturdays March 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 11 at 2 p.m.

I've seen the preview and this is as good as any of the regional theater productions on the peninsula. Support our future generation of artists and come to the show, you'll have fun too!

Aida opened last night and the audience showed their appreciation with a standing ovation. This is not your typical high school music. It is an incredible moving show, rich with musical performances and visually stunning. It doesn't get much better than this on a high school level. Besides, you want to see these performers because then you will be able to say when they are famous that you saw them on the stage at WHS! Tickets are available online at www.whsdramaboosters.com for the best seats available or you can get them at the door.

I was absolutely amazed by the talent of these students. The music is so good, it gave me chills. The costumes and sets are spectacular. Not your average high school musical. It is much more professional and the singing talent will leave you amazed. I couldn't stop thinking about it days after.
