Show Choir Dazzles at First Performance of the Year

Songs from The Sound of Music, Annie and Bye Bye Birdie filled the auditorium.

Sandpiper Show Choir of rocked the multi-purpose room Wednesday night with their harmony, clarity, movement and a performing quality that would have made any parent proud.

The 33-member show choir of fourth and fifth graders performed music from Newsies, The Sound of Music, Annie, Disney’s Friends for Change and Bye Bye Birdie. A reception followed the performance.

A relatively new group, the show choir was started in October 2010 under the direction of Susie Jimenez, a teacher at Sandpiper Elementary School. The enrichment program offered the students an opportunity to develop their music skills through a study of vocal production techniques, music reading, sight singing and performing quality choral literature.
